    Castleton Retreat 2011
Once again, [info]knitpickers on tour will take Castleton! This will be our fourth glorious year!

For this year, we have once again secured The Stable and The Hayloft. This gives us two self contained apartments, with lounges, kitchenettes (tea!) etc. One apartment sleeps six - four in bunks and two on sofa beds. The second apartment sleeps four, but is currently just about filled by [info]tanurai and family.

The weekend starts on Friday 18 November 2011 and finishes on Sunday 20. The cost for accommodation will be about £40-£45 for the weekend. This includes a contribution towards the cost of group membership - and anything left over will be added to the tea/food kitty. Exact cost depends on numbers

As the accommodation has already been booked and paid for, if you would like to reserve your spot, please comment below or at the FB page and you will need get payment to [info]tanurai pretty sharpish. If more than six people are interested, there will be room, but sleeping quarters will be in the main hostel or barn.

    Any questions, just ask!

    January Meeting
Firstly, the January meeting will be on Thursday 6 January from approximately 5pm until whenever. The venue is Bungalows and Bears on Division Street. They do good food at reasonable prices, and as well as alcoholic drinks, serve tea, coffee and hot chocolate. And if we look menacing enough with our pointy sticks, we can grab the huge squishy sofas!

Secondly, [info]light_the_sky76  and I thought it might be fun to have some New Year's Resolutions, so perhaps you might want to think about these:

    1. What projects would you like to do in 2011?

    2. What new technique would you like to learn in 2011?

    3. What unfinished object/s (UFO) would you like to complete in 2011?

    4. What UFO/s will you frog (rip out) in 2011?

    5. What other knitting resolutions do you have for 2011?

There may be a small prize or two when these get revisited later in the year...

Thirdly, would anyone be up for a swap meet (yarn, needles, craft bits and bobs) later in the month or some other time?

    Knitting next week
Quick show of hands: Who wants to have knitting at Treasure Island at Dore Village Green as mentioned in Tanya's facebook post?

7pm-ish. There will be shouting and timbers may be shivered. We could bring picnicy stuff and stuff ourselves with sandwiches and cake.

We could do Dev Cat knitting the week after if any one has Dev Cat withdrawals.

Yes..not...what are you talking about you thundering loony?

ETA - forgot to mention, it's free

World Wide Knit In Public Day
WWKIP day is 12 June this year - would anyone care to mark it in some way?

It could be combined with a picnic, as we've previously talked about.

    Possibilities I've thought of are:

Endcliffe Park - handy for the Wool Baa!
Weston Park - handy for the museum/Starbucks if wet
Botanical Gardens - handy for their tea shop

    Comments please?

    Sublime on Sale
Atkinsons have some Sublime on sale for £1.99 a ball instead of £3.99. It's not just the beige and baby blue they've had on sale for ages - there's some lovely teal and two fabulous deep purples (wonder if it's a dye lot thing, as otherwise they are very close).

Didn't buy any - yet - but am thinking of some for a hat and gloves for winter. Or a couple ...

    Public transport
Are there buses that run to Holmfirth?

I checked the First website and they have one that runs from Huddersfield and Stagecoach has one that runs after 8pm from Monday to Friday - not very helpful.

Is is actually possible to get there on public transport on a weekend?

By the way, what did people buy in the John Lewis sale? ;o)
